International Baccalaureate candidate school

A Middle Years (MYP) International Baccalaureate (IB) offers a curriculum for active learners and develops internationally minded young people to empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning.

Our IB program empowers students to inquire into a wide range of local, national and global issues. Students become students who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.

Research shows that students participating in the MYP:

  • Gain confidence in managing their own learning

  • Learn by interacting by connecting the classroom to the larger world

  • Outperform non-IB students academically

  • Consistently have greater success in advanced placement programs

  • Develop an understanding of global challenges and a commitment to act as responsible citizens

Community Involvement

Students learn the power of working with others toward a common goal. All students give of themselves in service projects that benefit their community. From building a community garden to walking dogs at the Humane Society, Willow students practice living generously.

Project-based Learning

Students are confronted with real-world projects, hands-on learning, and performance assessment. These projects offer many entry points for students with varying learning styles and interests, integrate several subjects together at once, are teacher designed, and provide students with an excellent chance to demonstrate critical thinking, artistry, and a deeper understanding of core concepts. Many projects result in a public presentation by the student.

Fresh, Healthy Food

We proudly cook every breakfast and lunch from scratch with nutritious and tasty food — some of it right from the Willow garden, which serves as a learning tool for kids, as well as a source of delicious fresh and local food for the cafeteria. We’ve found that kids actually enjoy eating their vegetables when they’re able to help grow them.
